Charting headings before the tide turns
Reach Drift Wave is an independent studio that sets editorial bearings for organisations navigating crowded channels. We work in plain sight on the east table — methods described, outcomes left to your crew.

Studio tide table
Each row marks a working rhythm we return to. Heights are metaphorical — they describe attention, not water.
| Mark | Phase | Depth | Studio use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Slack | Shallow | Intake readings, corridor walks, no new lines drafted |
| 02 | Flood | Rising | Bearings workshops, heading rails drawn on the wall |
| 03 | High | Full | Sounding reviews, margin notes exchanged with your editors |
| 04 | Ebb | Falling | Chart collation, mooring handover documents prepared |
| 05 | Slack | Quiet | Chapel room open for drop-in chart questions |
Seven disciplines at the rail
- Bearings
- Orientation sessions that name the audience, the channel, and the sentence that must survive both.
- Moorings
- Anchor documents that hold tone steady when teams rotate or agencies change.
- Sounding
- Depth checks on drafts — we read for drift, repetition, and hollow claims.
- Chart notes
- Annotated examples your writers can trace without copying phrasing verbatim.
- Chapel room
- Half-day bearings and mooring reviews at the long table — no projector, notebooks open.
- Channel calendars
- Dated obligations that translate the heading into what publishes when, and who signs.
- Governance
- Escalation paths when unpublished language appears in market — written before drift spreads.

Method in brief
We chart headings before channels multiply the drift. A heading document is a single authoritative paragraph plus supporting definitions — not a tagline deck, not a vision statement wall. Channel calendars translate the heading into dated obligations: what publishes when, who reviews, what asset type is required. Asset systems name file conventions, tone markers, and expiry rules so old language does not resurface unnoticed. Launch sequencing orders internal and external moments so sales, support, and marketing speak from the same sheet on the same day.
Internal communications governance is often the missing mooring. We document how product, HR, and leadership introduce the brand in mail and town halls. Without it, the public heading erodes from inside. Our sounding page describes monthly checks; the chart notes page collects practical questions. When you are ready, the jetty page holds address, hours, and directions from Eunos MRT.
We established the studio to serve teams tired of reconciling contradictory copy across surfaces. The work is cool, exact, and unhurried. We do not chase metrics in client conversations. We chase alignment — one voice, one heading, one tide table pinned where everyone can see it.
East Coast Road is a ten-minute walk from the studio when the side street is quiet. Marine Parade and Joo Chiat clients often visit before lunch; we keep mornings for heading work and afternoons for client sittings when possible. Still Road and the coastal park are nearby — we mention them only as orientation, not as leisure branding. The studio is a workplace; the veranda is where we air printed proofs, not where we host events.
The east plate photograph on this page is taken from the actual table — morning light, not a filter. The tide table pinned in moorings is represented digitally here but lives on paper in the room because paper stays visible when laptops close.
